About Me and RBTV
Hello! My name is Emma Bent; I’ve deeply valued reading all my life, but my path to the literary realm has been somewhat serendipitous.
In my professional life, I conduct research, and teach in the biology dept. at Dalhousie University. I am also currently pursuing a certification in ASL (American Sign Language) interpreting to promote equity and inclusivity in STEM.
In my personal life, I embrace little indulgences. Reading, snacking, drinking wine, and the timeless art of gossip are among my favourites. During the global pandemic I was isolated and under-stimulated (like you, I’m sure).
Read Between the Vines was born in October 2020 thanks to a particularly poignant and encouraging bottle of Valpolicella.
RBTV offers the unique experience of weekly Book Club. We meet virtually on Sundays (5:30 AST) to discuss the monthly book (which has been divided into weekly sections). In Book Club, we deliberate the literature, make predictions, and unwind in a low-stakes casual discussion.
Book Club is a safe space for each Book Clubber to bring their authentic opinion. Lively, respectful debates are encouraged. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
